The heart, like the rest of the muscles in the human body, needs a constant supply of oxygen and nutrients which reach it through two main branching arteries which are the coronary arteries. When one of the two arteries or their branches are obstructed, the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the part of the heart decreases, and this leads to what is known as, a heart attack.
